From What Was Will Grow A Flower is the second LP from Luke Titus.
Follow the thread of Luke Titus’ many contributions to jazz, alternative, and hip-hop scenes across America, and what emerges is a singular weave between Luke's roots in Chicago, L.A., and New York communities. These influences are expressed most forcefully and intentionally on the second LP from the prolific young songwriter and producer. From What Was Will Grow A Flower codifies Luke's many contributions into an emergent, nearly clairvoyant statement of musical intent—blooming, innovative songwriting interspersed with virtuosic instrumental passages, underwritten by meticulously studied production techniques. A drummer by trade—cutting his teeth in Chicago’s jazz and DIY scenes—Titus' solo work leans into a kaleidoscopic sound, with assemblages of DillaTime micro-detail, extended jazz instrumentals, warm textural layers, and the gestural flourishes and compositional choices of a multi-instrumentalist producer with a sharp wit, and left-field instincts.
About the Album, Luke says: "This album is about spirituality and connectivity, both with the universe and the self, as told through my personal journey. It questions reality as a way to deepen one’s connection to it. I dedicate this album not only to anyone who has been through hard times, but to anyone who relates to the cyclical nature of the human experience. And more than that, I dedicate this album to my mom."
